Verse I
I can't sleep. I can't keep,
My eyes closed when you're around.
It's no use. I refuse,
To take a chance on lettin' you down.
The city's put me through changes.
Me and the country are strangers now.
Every night, I sing this same old song, yeah!

Verse II
I can't help, Myself,
When it comes to lovin' you.
I don't know, What I've done,
But I know, What I'm gonna do.

(Chorus)
I'm gonna Change Some, And roll away straight!
Stay the same some, Yeah, but baby wait!
I'm the same one, You had yesterday!
It's the same sun. It's just, A brand new day!

Verse III
Well, I told you before,
If you walk out that door,
Well baby you can't come back,
No you can't come back,
No you can't come back no more, Unless you
Change Some, And roll away straight!
Stay the same some, Yeah, but baby wait!
I'm the same one, You had yesterday!
It's the same sun. It's just, A brand new day!

I was a 'consultant,' some bookkeeping trick to pay me out of a budget that didn't specify money for an overnight caretaker or guard, in a group home for delinquents. I used to play a guitar they had there, but it distracted the inmates from the TV and they began breaking the strings. I came in one night and the treble E was broken (bottom string). I took it away from the TV room and played anyway. The next night the B was gone (2nd string from the bottom). I tried to isolate myself from the TV again, and played anyway. The next night the G (3rd fr. bottom) was broken. I played and wrote several songs with just the top 3, the bass E, A, and D. This was one of them. Someone told me it has a good back beat.
