(Verse I)
I wrote your Number On The Wall---
Beside the phone so I could call-all you.
I love to hear you say, "Hel-lo---
You're just the man I wanna ta-alk to."
But I know,
Someone else is callin' you.
You don't really car-are-are-are.
I don't know, Who it is you're talkin' to,
You do what you wanna do when I'm not there.

(Chorus)
I took my phone off of the hoo-oo-ook,
Erased your number from my book!
If I look hard I can recall,
Where I wrote your Number On The Wall!
I wrote your Number On The Wall!

(Verse II)
I took your picture off the wall---
So I'd remember not to call-all you.
Don't wanna think of you at all---
Sometimes I wish I never saw-aw you.
You know, What it is, this thing you do.
I don't really care-are-are-are.
You don't know, What it does to me when you won't answer when I call you and I know you're there.

(Repeat Chorus)

(Verse III)
I wrote your Number On The Wall,
So I'd remember not to cal-all you.
Don't wanna think of you at all.
Sometimes I wish I never saw-aw you.
I know, Someone else is callin' you.
You don't really care-are-are-are.
I don't know who you think you're talkin' to
You do what you wanna do,
And I don't care.

(Repeat Chorus)

This is from my 38-song "Out Of The Woodwork V" copyright collection.

I saw Johnny Rivers in Portsmouth, Ohio. He did "Memphis," where "My uncle took the message and he wrote it on the wall."

That act of writing on the wall is very graphic storytelling, very visual, very personal Character action; so of course I stole it, took it across the border, filed the numbers down, gave it a new paint job, and now it's for sale.

Now YOU can cover this Song, maybe have a nice hit with it. Email: garyeandrews@yahoo.com
