(Verse I)
Momma don't you tell me what to do.
Momma don't you tell me what to say.
Momma don't you tell me what to do, Or say,
And I won't run off and play in the hay all day.

(Verse II)
Momma don't you tell me whose is whose,
And then, tell me who they play!
Momma don't you tell me whose is whose,
And who they play,
And I won't walk off, And stay downtown all day!

(Chorus)
Momma won't you tell me what is o-a-on your mind?
Momma won't you tell me what is yours and what is mine?
Momma won't you tell me when you'd like to spend some time?
Momma Don't Tell Me! Please don't tell me,
You dropped and broke the wine!

(Verse III)
Oh Momma don't you tell me what to do!
Momma don't you tell me what to say!
Momma don't you tell me what to do, Or say,
And I won't mouth off and say all I can say!

(Repeat Chorus)

(Tag)
Oh Momma don't you tell me what to do!
Momma don't you tell me what to say!
Momma don't you tell me what to do, Or say,
And I won't mouth off and say all I can say!
And I won't walk off, And stay downtown all day!
Why don't we run off and play in the hay all day?

This is just a little Travis-pickin' walker that is fun to sing and play.

A bluegrass singer/guitar player, Bev Romanello, with the Poverty String Band, played upright bass on this with me in an antique store in Portsmouth, Ohio, and asked me to play it several times.

Each time, she would ask my name, as if, I thought, she wanted to remember who I was, she enjoyed it so much, but just couldn't.

This could be a memorable hit for YOU and your band. Email: garyeandrews@yahoo.com
