Everybody knows, You're the one who came here.
Everybody knows, You're just tryin' to lay some blame here.
I've been to three county fairs, and two goat ropin's,
And I've never seen Nothin' Like You.
Nobody knows, What you're like when you're with me.
Even I don't know. It always seems so if-y.
So gimme' the time of day. Stop and say 'Hello.'
I've never seen Nothin'. I've never seen Nothin' like you.
Everybody knows, You've been breakin' hearts since you turned thirteen.
Everybody seems to know you're gonna' hurt me
'Cause you're so mean.
That's why I don't put too much stock in
What Everybody Knows.
Everybody knows, You're the one came down here.
Everybody knows, Why you hang around here.
I put your toes in new silk stockings.
I bought you brand new clothes,
And I gotta' tell ya',
I've never seen Nothin' like you.

I get the sense of a couple of schemers, her dressed by him as the bait, he the seemingly unacquainted stranger, setting up their marks and, somehow, profiting. The line about "I've been to two count fair and three goat ropin's" is one my father used to express amusement at the manifestations of the innate silliness of people, like politicians.
