Waiting in the darkness
that is me,
for you,
hoping you will soon come along.
Waiting in the shadow,
of a dream,
so blue,
knowing that waiting can't be wrong.

Don't you hear the whistle
blowin' softly,
comin' in the window on a breeze?
Don't you hear me?
How I'm
almost crying,
dying for the magic of your squeeze,
groping in the darkness that is me?

Watching all the movements,
that are you,
I see,
something that's destined to be.
Watching as the motion,
like a dream,
slowly,
fades on to reality.

David Mogen Edwards,
is my name, I,
came to see your midnight once again.
Won't you look into my,
shadow pictures,
fixtures in the memory of a man,
groping in the darkness that I am?

When in Rome
I know they say,
but I don't work that way.
everywhere I roam
I make my home.
Though I walk in darkness,
I still can see my way,
because it is a darkness all my own.

David Mogen Edwards,
is my name, I,
came to see your midnight once again.
Won't you look into my,
shadow pictures,
Fixtures in the memory of a man,
groping in the darkness that I am?

A friend in Asia told of a friend he had back in the world somewhere who used to ride a motorcycle to his house, sit and drink wine all evening with the house cat on his lap, and then ride away. His name was either Mogen David Edwards, or David Mogen Edwards. I think it was the first. Somehow his name popped into this song I wrote there.
