Blackbird flew, Into my window, Today,
Then flew away.
I took it for a sign that winter
Was on its way.
And I hopped the next train to Nogales.
I got off at the border.
Next thing I knew there was a Mexican cop,
Pattin' his gun and givin' orders.

And I watched those blackbirds flyin' away,
Knowin' all the while that I would have to stay and play,
Play, Play That Mexican Song.
The one where the blackbird sings along.
Play That Mexican Song.
Play. Play all night long.

Well it cost thirty dollars and my new wristwatch,
To get away.
So that's what I paid.
But I firmly felt my feet in my old brown boots,
As I walked, Away.

And I strolled into a neat cafe.
I asked the man for water.
A pretty senorita strolled up to me.
I thought she was his daughter.

So I watched those blackbirds flyin' away,
Knowin' all the while that I would have to stay and play,
Play, Play That Mexican Song.
The one where the blackbird sings along.
Play That Mexican Song.
Play. Play all night long.

I read some of the books of Carlos Castaneda, and some of the imagery here was inspired by them.
